Located in the Province of Llanquihue in the in Chile's Los Lagos Region, Puerto Varas is nestled in a natural setting formed by Lake Llanquihue and Osorno Volcano, and is home to 32,000 people. This magical "City of th Roses" was formed by the German colonization with immigrants that settled the area in the mid-nineteenth century. It is a gateway to innumerable attractions, such as hot springs and skiing. For sports enthusiasts, Puerto Varas is a true paradise for fly fishing, mountain climbing, skiing, golf, water sports, horseback riding, among others.
The city is the starting point toward the international border crossing Puella, which leads to Bariloche (Argentina), following the route that goes around Lake Llanquihue, the Petrohue Waterfalls, the sides of the Osorno, Calbuco and Puntiagudo volcanoes, Mount Tronador, crossing Lake Todos los Santos and Vicente Perez Rosales National Park.
